| The Vital Safety System is a safety system that addresses customers' needs for the highest level of safety (Category 4), while lowering costs of safety components. The Vital system consists of a vital controller, which is a little larger than the size of a standard Jokab safety relay (RT9). The advantage of using this is that multiple safety components, up to 30 devices in total, can be connected to ONE unit, and still achieve category 4 safety. Many machine builders will connect multiple safety devices is series to one safety relay, but the reality is that this method leaves room for device failure that will result in an unsafe condition. But because the connection to the vital module monitors the presence of each device, and because the device can detect when a safety component is shorted, failed or jumpered out, the circuit is still considered a Category 4 level of safety.
